We started today's class by reviewing "Gajanana he Shubhanana" bhajan that the class learnt in the previous session.

With the upcoming Navrathri festival in mind, the class learnt about Mahishasura Mardhini. We talked at length about what this festival is about, who Durga is, how she was born, who made her powerful and why she slayed Mahishasura. The class discussed their take-aways from the story and why power shouldn't be misused. Make sure to ask your kids what their specific take away from the story was! I bet they would love to share.

We started learning the first stanza of the Mahishasura Mardhini Stotram.

And we will continue to learn this stotram stanza after stanza, for a couple weeks. Pronunciation will be key for this song, please ensure the kids continue to practice at home.
